    2002 : Album " Dap Dippin' With Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings " Daptone Records DAP-001 [ US ]

    Sharon Jones rentre donc en studio avec The Dap-Kings en 2001 pour enregistrer son premier essai qui est finalement édité l’année suivante . Cet album est édité en Amérique sur le label Daptone Records DAP-001 [ US ] en 2002 . Il paraît également en Australie sur le label Daptone Records DAP-001 [ AU ] et en France sur le label Terre A Terre Records TAT-001 [ FR ] la même année . On y retrouve au total onze titres incendiaires qui cassent tout sur leurs passages ! Des titres qui renouent avec la Soul " brut " et la Funky râpeuse de la fin 60’s , début 70’s . Un son « Roots » à la fois chaud et énervé se dégage de façon générale de la production. Cinq singles ont déjà été extraits de cet album : " Got A Thing On My Mind " certainement le hit de l’album , " Make It Good To Me " , " Got To Be The Way It Is " , “ Pick It Up , Lay In The Cut ” et la reprise de Janet Jackson : " What Have You Don’t For Me Lately ". D’ailleurs l’adaptation de ce dernier morceau est tellement surprenante que l’on a l’impression que c’est l’original et que ce sont Jam & Lewis qui ont repris cette composition pour la belle Janet . Quoi qu’il en soit l’ensemble s’enchaîne avec un réel bonheur ! La diva est en plus d’être une des artistes les plus explosives et énergiques que la Soul contemporaine ait connue , dévoile une gentillesse et une authenticité qui en fait une artiste sacrément attachante ! " Dap Dippin’ With " amène une reconnaissance enfin légitime à cette soul sister ; qui démontre finalement que l’histoire ne fait que commencer ! L'album est réédité en Amérique , même label , même référence le 17 Juin 2014 , mais avec un titre bonus ( qui remplace " [ Introduction ] " ) non retenu à l'époque " Will You Be True " qu'hélas , je n'ai pas cry . coolcool

        G'day Pierre from Outback Australia!!! My French is only of schoolboy standard unfortunately, just as well you are great at English...! I wish to thank you mon ami for your speedy and most welcome re-up of Sharon Jones, I managed to purchase "100 Days 100 Nights" recently and it was my first experience of this lady and The Dapkings....she is a premier soul singer in the real 60s mold, and so I have been hoping such a blog as yours may carry another album....Quel suprise! when I found your post and best of all, her first ever album. Well, unlike your other leechers, I do know how to say thank you, and very loudly too!! You have made my day. I will be visiting you again, and would love a recommendation from you and alink to what you feel is another fine sample of this great soul songstress-  chanteuse as you would say!!
