Bien que ses chansons aient été les préférées des DJ soul et funk dans toute l'Europe , il s'agit de la toute première compilation de son matériel le plus funky des années 60/70 . Professor Earl Lett est né en 1945 et a grandi à Monroeville , en Alabama . Sa carrière musicale a commencé après sa démobilisation en 1961 lorsqu'il est retourné dans le Massachusetts pour partir en tournée avec son premier groupe de circuit professionnel : Earl Lett & The Blendaires .

Alors qu'il était en tournée le long du circuit chitlin' , le groupe a eu la possibilité d'enregistrer son premier 45 tours à Plattsburgh , NY " Monkey's Tail " couplé avec " You're The One For Me " sur le label Empire Records en 1964 . Lorsqu'Earl et son groupe ont effectué une résidence dans un club à New York , un producteur d'Afrique du Sud les a entendus et a proposé un engagement en Tunisie . En 1967 , peu de temps après son retour au Massachusetts , il sort son deuxième 45 tours " Do The Thing " couplé avec " Now Is The Time " sur le petit label de Boston , Wild Records . En 1969 , Professor Earl Lett a décidé qu'il était temps de créer son propre label : Beantown Records . Il sort bientôt son premier single " Soul Sax " couplé avec " The Boston Puppy " mais part directement en Europe pour y jouer pendant un an et demi .

À son retour aux États-Unis , il a accidentellement décroché une place dans le groupe Kings of Rhythm d'Ike & Tina Turner . Professor Earl Lett a tourné avec Ike pendant un an , puis il a déménagé à Boston pour étudier le saxophone à la Berkeley School of Music . Au cours des années suivantes , il a continué à publier sa musique sur Beantown Records , y compris son seul et unique album studio intitulé " Love Serenade " .
